Groups

A group is the team, club, or regular game your events and availability polls belong to. Everything else in uin4, including events, invitations, and notifications, happens inside one.

A group's tabs, with the Admin tab open showing the description, timezone, and People needed to play settings

Creating a group

Any signed-in member can create a group, and becomes its first administrator. Give it a name and a timezone. The timezone is what the availability grid and every event time is shown in for the group, so pick the one your group actually plays in, not necessarily your own.

Members and administrators

Anyone who joins is a member. A member can mark their availability, lock in an event from the grid, confirm or cancel their own attendance, and sort out a venue. The things a group does together day to day don't need an admin.

An administrator can additionally create and cancel events directly, and change the group's settings on the Admin tab. On the Members tab, an admin can promote another member to administrator or demote one. A group always keeps at least one administrator, so the last one can't demote themselves.

The group tabs

  • Schedule: upcoming and past events, and whether you're confirmed.
  • Availability: the grid for marking when you're free. See Availability scheduling.
  • Manage: administrators only. Create an event directly, or cancel one.
  • Members: who's in the group, invitation links, and admin/member roles.
  • Admin: administrators only. The group's own settings, covered below.

Group settings

An administrator sets these on the Admin tab:

  • Description: shown at the top of the group page. Supports Markdown, so you can bold, italicize, list, and link.
  • Timezone: the clock every event and the availability grid run on.
  • People needed to play: how many members need to be free at once before the availability grid offers a time. A five-a-side game and a volleyball team need different numbers here; there's more on this in Availability scheduling.
  • Any member can create invitation links: unchecked, only administrators can invite new people.

Joining a group

You join by following an invitation link someone in the group sends you. There's no way to find or request to join a group without one. See Invitations for how those links work.
